Presentable #33: Back To Work
Sharing out what I’m wearing, watching, listening to, and thinking about as I returned to work this week from paternity leave.

Hey there!
Welcome back to another issue of my newsletter. And, a huge welcome to all the new subscribers who joined over the past week. I’m happy to have you here!
I went back to work this week after taking time off for paternity leave and I was happy to reconnect with all my friends and colleagues. I spent some time figuring out how I’m going to balance working from home with a newborn and make sure I’m able to find moments of focus not only for work, but for continuing to write this newsletter, especially now that my schedule is becoming a bit more full compared to the past 30 days.
Today’s issue is an update of what i’m wearing, listening to, watching, and thinking about. I hope you enjoy.
What I’m Wearing
I finally found a pair of the Japanese-made Asahi Deck Shoes in my size and I absolutely love them. I thought they were going to be too small, as 29 cm is their largest size, but a few friends of mine mentioned they sized down. Thankfully they were right and they fit great. For reference, I’m usually a Men’s size 12 US, 45 EU, and now, a 29 cm in Japanese sizing.
I’m a huge fan of how my friend
styles them in this look. And, Casatlantic uses these heavily in their product shots, which is how I originally discovered these shoes. While I’ve worn Vans Authentic a bunch recently, these have now taken the throne for my favorite summer sneaker. What I’m Listening To
I’ve been waiting (and waiting) for the release of Jungle’s latest album, “Volcano.” Now that it‘s finally here, I’ve been vibing out for the past week. The songs are similar to their previous stuff, but a bit more uptempo. Some songs will definitely make you want to shake your groove thang. My favorites are Dominoes, Don’t Play, and PROBLEMZ.
What I’m Watching
I enjoyed watching and listening to this discussion with Mark Cho from The Armoury, who sat down with Simon Crompton to talk about how Pitti Uomo has changed over the years, and more importantly, the 15 year anniversary of Simon’s brand, website, and company, Permanent Style.
It was great to hear about his journey into making his passion into a full-time job—something I admire and aspire to. The most surprising fact was how long it took—a little over 9 years—and it was impressive to hear how he persisted and maintained consistency and quality to make that happen. Congratulations on 15 years, Simon!
New Figma Plugin I’m Using
One of my closest friends—and one of the smartest people I’ve ever met—just launched a new Figma plugin called Blend. It allows you to quickly create multiple steps or instances between shapes and colors. It’s a neat tool for creating patterns and objects that I didn’t even think was possible inside Figma. Checkout Ian Cox’s demo and try it out here.
What I’m Thinking About
“Follow your love, there is no path, be willing to play the fool.”
Ethan Hawke, Give yourself permission to be creative
A pattern emerging for me is about finding happiness in life, specifically through what I’m doing during the hours of the day that aren’t spent with my loved ones. I’m balancing my wants and needs with my family’s. I’m discovering what makes me happy, whether it’s continuing to work as a designer, write this newsletter, or explore other things I want to make.
The journey is what excites me most right now. Not knowing the next steps.
I look forward to figuring it out.
