I. Menswear Event I Wish I Could’ve Attended
Pitti Uomo 106 happened this week, and I felt the FOMO. Hard. At the beginning of the year, I planned to attend. I said to myself, “Okay, let’s do it.” With all of the progress I’ve made with this newsletter, I almost felt like it was expected that I be there. To be part of the crowd. To attend the dinner parties. To wear ridiculous outfits I’d probably never wear in my everyday life. To embrace the “menswear-nerdery” that happens when surrounded by people who care what they wear. To have the experience I had earlier this year but at an entirely different level.
In hindsight, it would‘ve been extremely difficult to hop back on a plane after just getting back from Japan the week prior. And, leaving my family for a week, or expecting them to come with me to Italy would’ve been pretty much a no-go. All of us dealt with major jet lag and that would’ve only added to it. As my son gets older, and we get more used to traveling as a family, we’ll see how that changes.
For now, I have my fingers crossed that I’ll be able to attend next year. And, it was still a fun exercise to look through the hundreds of photos from the event to see what everyone was wearing. Perhaps you’ll see me in one of those in the future.
