I. IVY STYLE PHOTOSHOOT IN SAN FRANCISCO WITH LANCE ONEIL
A few weeks ago, my friend Lance Oneil hit me up and asked if I wanted to do a photoshoot in San Francisco that captured the essence of Ivy style and vintage military Americana.
I said “yes” right away and met him a week later at the Embarcadero with a couple of different fits I put together for the shoot.
For the first look, I wore some of my staples: a pair of suede Alden LHS loafers, a pair of 3sixteen RS-100x selvedge denim, a vintage white Brooks Brothers OCBD, an RL67 herringbone tweed jacket, and a Rolex Explorer watch. I also brought along a navy silk-knit tie, an L.L. Bean tote bag, and a Real McCoy’s sweatshirt, which you can see here.
The second look was a little more casual, with a few more of my go-to pieces: a pair of G.H. Bass x Buck Mason penny loafers, a pair of vintage Polo Ralph Lauren pleated chinos, a black leather Maximum Henry western belt, a white Lady White Co. t-shirt, and a vintage military M-65 jacket.
I had so much fun with this shoot. Lance shot it all on film, using two different cameras. I love all of the warm colors and graininess he was able to capture.
Lance did an amazing job—if you’re looking for a photographer, send him a DM and get in touch. He’s based in the Bay Area and has taken photos for families, weddings, and engagements. Thanks again, Lance!

II. NEW SANDALS I’M CHECKING OUT FROM CHAMULA & BUCK MASON
Buck Mason restocked their Cancun Huaraches this week, which are part of an ongoing collaboration with the brand Chamula, and they come in either Black or Brown vegetable tanned leather.
From the description:
This special-edition Cancun sandal, handcrafted by Chamula’s skilled artisans in Mexico, is designed with a custom heel and black rubber soles inspired by vintage huarache styles. Our collaboration honors the traditional roots of huarache-making with vegetable-tanned leather uppers that are naturally sun-tanned — resulting in subtle, unique color variations from shoe to shoe — and built using ancestral techniques and tools. Each pair is ethically handmade in Mexico.
They’re already close to being sold out in all sizes.
I had the Black version in my cart, but after checking this morning, it was gone.
I’m going to call around a couple of the local stores and see if they have any left in a size 12.
I hesitated because I tried on a size 11.5 at Halo during my trip to Portland last month, and they were too tight in the toe box, but fairly loose across the vamp, which made me think that if I sized up, they would slip all over the place. They weren’t the exact same, but it’s the same model they used for the collaboration, and the Buck Mason version only comes in whole sizes.
From what I can see based on the images online, the only design differences between the original and the collab are the sole and the leather.
I’d have to see them in person to truly tell, but the leather appears to be a little less shiny and more dull, which I prefer.
Since they only come in full sizes, I’m fairly certain that I’d be a size 12.
My experience buying shoes as of late is to always buy them comfortable out of the box. I hate break-in periods, and if that means the shoes don’t work for me because of that, I’ll usually pass and/or return them.
I’ve been looking for more summer shoe options, which has led me down this path to find a good pair of sandals. I’m starting to wear out the soles of my August Special loafers, which I want to keep in my rotation as long as possible, so I need a few other options to alternate over the next couple of months.
I’ll keep you updated if I end up buying these and if the size 12 ends up working out.

III. CHECKING OUT THE GOOD FLEA VINTAGE MARKET AT HEATH CERAMICS
I drove up to the city yesterday with my family and stopped by The Good Flea at Heath Ceramics in the Mission District.
It was my first time attending one of these events, and it was super busy, so I didn’t stay too long. We got there close to lunch time and hadn’t eaten anything all morning.
My wife grabbed us an Apple Fritter at the Johnny’s Donuts food truck outside while my son and I walked around the interior of the event. It was cramped, and bringing a stroller inside made things a little tight.
I like how they converted the factory floor into multiple booths, featuring vendors selling art, crafts, vinyl records, vintage furniture, books, and a bunch more.
There was only a single rack of clothes, which were all Women’s designer labels, so that was a bit of a let-down. If anyone at Heath is reading this, I’d love to see a menswear-focused vendor next time—my pals at Patina Studies would be a great fit!
There were also a bunch of great deals on ceramics, but the line was too long, and I couldn’t wait, especially with my energetic toddler in the stroller who was ready to get out and run around.
I like that they had a bunch of food trucks, and it seemed a lot of people attended the event. Next time, I’ll have to arrive early, more than likely by myself, and see if I can score a good deal on some ceramics.
I doubt they had this for sale as part of the discounted products, but I discovered Heath Ceramics makes this flatware set that’s perfectly designed. I want it so bad. I can’t justify spending over $400 right now for a complete four-person set, but hey, one can dream, right?
I also ran into my friends Phillip and Paul, and it was great seeing them as always. I missed Daryn and Nicole, but hope to catch them in the near future!

IV. EVERYTHING I’M WATCHING ON EBAY THIS WEEK
One of my favorite things to do is search Ebay to find some of the best vintage and second-hand garments available online.
It still seems to be the place where people are selling stuff, regardless of all of the taxes and fee increases. I’m exploring other reselling platforms myself, but I still keep coming back to Ebay because that’s where everyone’s buying and selling.
I’ve curated a list below of the things I’m watching at the moment—it includes pieces I need to add to my wardrobe, and also things I want to try that are a little outside of my wheelhouse.
Here’s everything I’m watching:
Gitman Bros. Vintage Short Sleeve Shirt in White Oxford - Size Large
Gitman Bros. Vintage Long Sleeve Shirt in Black Japanese Cotton - Size Large
Polo Ralph Lauren Pleated Trousers in Houndstooth Wool - Size 33x31
Polo Ralph Lauren Flat Front Shorts in Gray and Black - Size 33
Polo Ralph Lauren Varsity Sweater in Green (“P” print) - Size XL
Eidos Napoli Double Breasted Sport Coat in Gray Herringbone - Size 40
Vintage Military M-51 Cargo Pants in Olive Green - Size Small Extra-Long
Vintage Champion Reverse Weave Sweatshirt in Navy (California) - Size Large
Vintage Banana Republic Double-Pock Shirt in White Herringbone Cotton - Size Large
Vintage Everlast Jumprope With Wood Handles and Leather Rope
Everything I’ve included is in my size. If you’re looking for similar pieces in your size, I recommend copying the listing title and searching Ebay, but swapping out the size with your own. I’ve done this hundreds of times, and it’s helped me find some of my own personal grails.
I also have some things still available for sale here. Open to offers and happy to answer any questions as best I can.

V. TWO MORE PAIRS OF SANDALS I’M CONSIDERING
I bought a pair of the Kiwi Sandals I included in my Father’s Day gift guide, and I’m eagerly waiting for them to arrive.
They’re estimated to arrive in a couple of weeks, due to the fact that they’re being handmade as we speak.
While I’m waiting, I’m still window shopping and checking out a few other sandal options.
I’m searching for the perfect pair that works for multiple occasions. I want them to look chic. I want them to be comfortable. And I want them to last.
The first pair I’ve been eyeing is the Solon from Ancient Greek Sandals.
Honestly, I didn’t even think of this brand initially, because in the past, most of their styles have been a little too costume-y and “out there” for me.
I was happily surprised to see they had a simple, thong-style, in all black leather.
I’m a little concerned about sizing. I’m not sure if I’d be a 45 or a 46. I plan to try the 46 if the Kiwi Sandals end up not working out for some reason.
The soles look a little thin, perhaps too thin to be walking around in for long distances, but they’re the exact style I’ve been looking for. They’re almost identical to the Kiwi versions, but without the exposed metal rivets. I like that.
They’re the closest minimalistic design I’ve seen compared to something like that of The Row or Auralee (both of which are way out of my price point, but I appreciate the design and quality).
The second pair I’ve been considering is the Porto Leather Thong Sandal by Todd Snyder.
I stopped by their store in Hayes Valley to check them out, and while I didn’t see them in Black (my preferred colorway), I did notice the sole was rather stiff, almost wood-like.
They were also heavier than I expected.
I double-checked the description and didn’t see anything mentioning the layer in between the footbed and sole, so maybe I’m wrong.
Either way, they looked nice, but I’m not sure they’d be the most comfortable all day long. The slight overhang of the cushion of the footbed could be potentially bothersome if you’re walking around and slipping on/off the little platform they provide.
One more pair I’m eyeing that doesn’t fit into the same qualification criteria as the other two is these ones from Bedrock Sandals. They’d specifically be just for the pool and would replace a pair of Nike ACG Deschutz sandals I’ve been wearing for a couple of years now. This other pair of Bedrock’s is also cool, but I need a little less straps as of late.

P.S. I have no idea if this rumor is true. If San Francisco becomes the host of next year’s Vogue World, you can bet I’ll be there.
P.P.S. It was wonderful seeing all of my friends this week at Figma’s Design Conference—s/o to Joey, Ian, Hy, Kevin, Andy, Bryce, Manjula, and Nilesh. It was also wonderful meeting so many new folks. Feeling inspired after all of the conversations I had.

Love the photoshoot Victor! Both girls go hard. I love blazers and denim so I can definitely see myself wearing the first fit.
I also love the Buck Mason and Chamula Huaraches but Yeaa they’re always sold out haha
