Presentable #36: Women Who Inspire My Style (Part 2)
Sharing out my favorite accounts on Instagram curated by women who have a unique take on fashion and style.
While I was on paternity leave, I re-downloaded Instagram—after having it removed for the entirety of this year—and spent some long nights scrolling the feed, a habit I had kicked after breaking up with my phone late last year.
It’s something I was aware of, purposefully looking at my phone to help keep me awake, but also recognizing it’s not a habit I want to maintain for long.
In doing this though, another positive came about; I discovered tons of accounts for style inspiration and found a few that I became a big fan of.
Today, I’m sharing my five favorite Instagram accounts curated by women whose take on fashion and style resonates with me, and continues to inspire me to try out different combinations I never would’ve thought of before.
Women Who Inspire My Style on Instagram
1. Juliana Salazar
@julianasalazar | Stylist, creative director, brand strategist, and wizard of many things.
Juliana has been on fire as of late, including a recent interview on Hypebeast, where she shared some great looks styled with a couple of pairs of ASICS. I also loved her take on the Nike Style Lounge she curated in April of this year.
Her overall taste and the way she styles sportswear and athletic wear together is truly unique and inspiring. I love the way she mixes classic menswear pieces like blazers, oxfords, and sweaters into her style.
2. Olympia Gayot
@olympiamarie | Creative director and head of design at J.Crew women’s and Crewcuts.
I discovered Olympia after browsing J.Crew’s home page, where she was featured in a styling video, along with two other women, trying on clothes from the latest collection.
I love the way she explains the inspiration behind the designs for each collection. And the way she styles them looks fantastic. She takes a ton of fit pics on her account, which I greatly appreciate, and she even includes behind-the-scenes for style shoots, her mood boards for each season, and whatever she’s trying out from the current collection.
3. Emilie Rose Hawtin
@ehawtin | Editorial, tailoring, and consulting for brands like J.Mueser, Drake’s, and Tracksmith.
I believe I discovered Emilie last year after she was featured on Permanent Style, but hadn’t followed her Instagram account until a few months ago. She’s also been on a great run lately, partnering with J. Mueser and what I believe is her label, Clementina, showcasing tailoring for women.
She’s the one on this list whose style leans the most into menswear, where I could directly pull any combination from her looks and wear them myself, in my size. I also just love how simple, elegant, and neutral her wardrobe is. I wish she shared more fit pics!
4. Sandra Rodrigues Pinto
@entre_dois | Designer, curator, stylist, digital creator, and owner of the clothing brand Laramel.
I’ve been following Sandra the longest of the five I’ve included here, and she’s gone from posting pictures of her outfits to creating her brand, and most recently, partnering with Louis Vuitton.
Like the others on my list, she has a style that’s sporty and chic and mixes in blazers, ball caps, and sweatshirts (notice the pattern?). I love following along with her travel adventures and seeing what outfits she packs, and which accessories she pairs with them. She also features a lot of couple pics, featuring her and her husband, who also has a great sense of style.
5. Annemiek Kessels
@modedamour | Curator and stylist.
I can’t recall when I started following her account but I wish I discovered it early than I had. Her style is the most minimal on this list, focusing on simplicity and proportions, wearing lots of button-up shirts, jeans, and pleated pants.
The black and white photos, and clothes with the same color combo, are a great break from all of the colors you usually see on Instagram, and she’s able to wear a variety of clothes, both fitted and loose.
