I. Visiting Standard & Strange’s Flagship Shop in Berkeley
Last week I mentioned that Standard & Strange had opened their new flagship location, and after hitting “publish,” I hopped in the car to check it out. It was the day after they had just opened, and things were still being added, including the hand-drawn lettering for their front window.
The previous shop in Oakland was small, and somehow the new shop felt almost smaller. I think this was mostly due to how busy it got. There was a good balance of new and old customers, with the latter stopping by to say hello and see the new space. The store’s manager gracefully handled all of the questions being thrown at him from everyone, including me, and helped me find a few pairs of jeans and t-shirts to try on. I ended up picking up a grey t-shirt from The Real McCoy’s—one that I couldn’t find in my size in Japan.
The inventory was fairly low, with most sizes sold out. The manager let me know they’re expecting new shipments in soon. I’ll definitely be stopping by again once they do. Again, if you’re in the Bay Area, I highly recommend visiting their new shop!
